Anime Spotlight : The Best Anime from the Spring 2015 Season

The Spring 2015 anime season is done and dusted, it's once again time to take a look back at some of the best Anime that aired and finished in Spring 2015. So ongoing anime like Ore Monogatari and Baby Steps 2 won't be included here, even though they are still well worth watching.

Grisaia no Rakuen

Synopsis : Grisaia no Rakuen is a continuation of the anime adaptation of The Fruits of Grisaia, in which the this time it's up to the girls of Mihama Academy to save Yuuji.

Thoughs : Grisaia no Rakuen, the follow up to the Grisaia no Meikyuu OVA. Continues off on the same dark tones that the first season ended with. This time we get to explore Yuuji's horrific past along with the girls of Mihama Academy. Grisaia no Rakuen had more than just serious moments though. A lot of funny and cute scenes kept my spirits up throughout. This is one of the better Harem type shows I've seen.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Lovecome wa Machigatte Iru. Zoku

Synopsis : Hikigaya Hachiman, with his unique thought processes, seemed to be glorifying the life of a loner when his guidance counselor, Hiratsuka Shizuka, talked him into joining the Service Club. Together with the other members, the breathtaking, flawless Yukinoshita Yukino and the cute, popular Yuigahama Yui, he spent his days solving all kinds of problems for his classmates, from relationship worries to running the cultural festival committee. The seasons have given way to fall, and now Hachiman, Yukino, and Yui are preparing for a field trip to Kyoto. What request has been brought to the Service Club this time?
Thoughts : My Teen Romantic Comedy: SNAFU Too! was a fantastic sequel to the much loved Yaharo Ore no Seishun Lovecome wa Machigatte Iru. With a lot more focus on the relationship of the three members of the service club, there were some moments which weren't good for my heart. A highly recommended anime with great characters, animation and story.

Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatte Iru Darouka: Familia Myth

Synopsis : In a world, where the deities have descended from the heavens lies the town of Orario. And in the town lies the Dungeon, which contains an assortment of monsters from goblins to dragons. Adventurers slay those monsters and take their shards, which are then used to craft magic items. To become an adventurer, people join groups called Familia. Each of which is named after and serves a resident deity. The adventurers and their attributes and abilities are ranked by level, improved by experience and supervised by their Familia's deity.
Bell Cranel, a novice adventurer, is the sole member of the Familia under the goddess Hestia. After being saved by top level adventurer Ais Wallenstein of the Loki Familia, he falls in love with her and decides to improve and become worthy of her attention. All the while mostly unaware that other girls, deities and mortals, also develop feelings for him. Especially Hestia herself.

Thoughts : DanMachi was probably a firm favorite for a lot of anime fans this past season. A fun show filled with good action, lots of cute girls. Some serious bits and a main character that's more than just a bit naive at times. If you haven't seen this yet, chances are you'll love it. It's a shame it was only 13 episodes. But then again it probably wouldn't have made it onto this list then. Also Hestia is worst girl ;)

Sidonia no Kishi: Daikyuu Wakusei Sen`eki

Synopsis : A continuation of the fantastic Knights of Sidonia, we join our protagonist Tanikaze Nagate and the inhabitants of Sidonia again as they are this time on the offensive against the Gauna.
Thoughts : After the first season of Knights of Sidonia blew me away. I had high expectations for the second season and boy I wasn't disappointed. Relations among the crew members changed as some get influenced by a third force. At times I wasn't sure who to trust. And the introduction of some old and new friends and enemies also shook things up a bit. Knights of Sidonia the Ninth Planet Crusade also had it's share of good laughs, romance and tentacles.

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches

Synopsis : One day, high-school boy Yamada bumps into the beautiful girl Shiraishi on the stairs (literally), and their lips touch as they fall. When they regain their wits, they realize that they have swapped bodies. As time progresses, the two realize that this is not the only mysterious happening in the school.
Thoughts : I really enjoyed Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches a lot. Good friends of mine couldn't stop rambling on about Yamada-kun when it was still just the manga and live action series. Which I skipped at the time. When I saw it's being animated I was already prepared to see what it's all about. I was warned of strong NTR, but even then I wasn't fully prepared for this roller coaster ride of laughs and drama. Good characters and a fair bit of mystery and romance makes Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches well worth watching.

That brings us again to the end of my write up on some of the best shows from Spring 2015. As mentioned before this list only contains shows that finished in this season thus Shoukugeki no Soma among others were excluded. Which was the shows you enjoyed most this past season? Let me know in the comments!
